Our Final Number two Indent

To edited the clip we used 'final cut pro'. Firstly we had to drag our clip into final cut pro, and then we 'renderder' it so that it would play. After rendering the clip we got rid of the audio, and to do this we had to go onto 'modify' and then down to 'link' and then this was able to let us click on the audio and then press delete to get rid of it.  We then had to slow the moive down and reverse it, so do to this we went onto 'modify' then down to 'speed' and then a box popped up and we clicked 'revers' ad changed the speed from 100% to 50%. We then needed to cut the clip so we went to the cut icon on the right hand side, and then clicked onto the part that we wanted to cut, and preset delete so then we were left with the part of the clip we wanted.
After doing this we decided to add another video to make it longer and it give it more of an effect. To do this we had to drag the video we wanted into 'final cut pro' and then we slowed it down they same way as before. We also cut the clip to were we wanted it to. After doing this we had to put a transformation (dissolve) into the video so that it didnt jump from one clip to another. We then added a sound clip to it so that it gave a better effect (Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head). We downloaded the song of youtube using youtube converter, after we had downloaded this we dragged it into 'Final cut pro' and then we used the 'cut' tool to cut the song to were we wanted it to play from. Then we faded the song out to make the video as a whole look a lot better.
Finally, we had finished the video and then we exported it using 'quicktime player'

Evaulation

For this assignment we had six weeks to complete the task, working in groups of 4/5 we were asked too create our own BBC indent, we had to make the number two and film it all ourselves. Each person in the group had different jobs to do, although everyone helped each-other and we did it as a team. We had to use a film camera to produce this indent. And we decided to do it in the studio where as other teams had different idea's of where to do it.
First of all we came up with a number of idea's of what to do to make our indent, we came up with around 3/4 idea's and worked out which would be the best. We agreed with the skittle idea - this was dropping our made number two into a tray of skittles so that they flyed everywhere, we thought this would give great effect as we were going to edit it and make it look in slow motion to make it come out better. Then we did our practice shots, we did this in the studio when it was free and seen what we could do to make our idea better. by doing this we relised how many bags of skittles we needed, we practiced these shots by rehearsing them about 3/4 times with different idea's such as dropping them in the tray and putting the skittles around the number two then taking it away, we all decided together which one we thought was best and continued testing the shoot. By doing this we knew then how heavy we needed the number two, because we were practicing with the model number two which was just a model that was helping us to know how big our number two had to be. We thought what would be the best way to make the number two, and what to make it out of.
Once we had decided all of this, we could then start to make our number two. We did this using cardboard foam that college provided for us, then we paper mashed it and painted it white, we decided to paint it white so that it stood out more in the skittles because there isn't a white skittle. We added about 6/7 layers of cardboard foam onto each other to make it look more 3D. We had to leave it to dry as we couldn't do anything until it was dry so two people came in on a friday and painted the rest of it so it was dry in time for wednesday when we was doing our final shoot. When the two people were making the number two, we documented them doing it and posted images and videos onto blogger to prove we made it and to help show how we made it. Making it didn't take to long and wasn't to difficult, it just took a few days as we had to wait for it to dry to keep putting more layers onto it. We all took it in turns to help cut out a number two to help stick onto each other. We used a small knife to help cut because scissors wouldn't cut through it.
Once we had made it, we filmed it how we wanted it to be, we had to do about 3 different ones to get it perfect and make the skittles fly out how we wanted them to, then we could now edit the indent. We decided it looked best slowed down and reversed, this gave it more effect and made it look different, it made the skittles stand out loads which is what the aim of our indent was.
Overall i am impressed with the outcome of our final indent because i like how we placed it together.

Our final indent before editing

We have now finished our final number two so we can begin to film our final indent. Two of the other team mates came in on a friday to and painted the number two as it needed to dry.
After this we did 2/3 test shoots to make sure it all worked and fitted with the plan how we wanted it too.
All the test shoots went well  and then we took our final BBC indent.
we are going to edit our video and make it slower so it drags and looks like the skittles are flying out of the tray slowly. The editor (jordon) will be editing the video. This video shows the indent without being edited proper.

BBC2 Tent Festival (Glastonbury 2011) -- Ident from the June 2009 set

i like this indent because i like how it resembles the program thats on next and the number two is really clear. this is one of my favorite ones because it is clear and clever.

BBC 2 indent 2011 (Read description)

here is a indent i like and i found interesting. i like how they dont make it to complicated.

Week 4 - making the number two

today we are making our number two using white foam board, we are drawing around it and cutting it out, then we are paper mashing it and painting it white to make it stand out and look more bolder. then we are cutting out about 7/8 number twos then place them together too make a 3D number two.
we have done clips of the making of the number two.
we came in and used other time during college to finish creating our number two because it wouldnt have dryed and wouldnt of been finished in time, we had to paper mashe it. Then we had to paint it so it was ready for wednesday so we could shoot our final one.
Once it was ready we took it into the studio and did about 3 test shots to see what we could make better or improve.
in the studio we used;
we used a simple table to place the tray on which held all the skittles in and be the main base for our bbc indent and final video.
we only used 2 or 3 studio lights which were focused on the table, we didnt need to use all the lighting. We used a flip camera to record the video.

Skittle idea

For our final idea of our BBC indent we have decided to base it around skittles. Last week we shotted and tested how we our going to do the indent, we did different idea's to see which was most interesting and which one worked best.

For the first idea we placed 2 bags of skittles in  the middle of the tray, and then we dropped the number 2 into the middle of the skittles, this made the skittles all go everywhere, this is what we wanted to happen however we are going to use more bags of skittles so it goes everywhere more.
Then we did another idea and moved the skittles around the number two mold, then we moved the mold of the two away so it was just left with the number two shaped out in skittles. We did loads of video's to practice.
For another one we tryed was having the skittles in      the same colours shaped in a number two, then we removed the colours separately to see what it would look like, like the video shows, then we dropped our model of number two in the tray.
i researched some channel 2 indents on youtube and these are the ones i like below.
